How can I help?

Answers to the questions I am asked most, and a real person at the other end of every email.

Write to me

Tell me what happened and which phone you use. A screenshot helps.

How are the prayer times worked out?

They are calculated on your phone for your exact place, using the recognised method for where you live, which Salah Sphere chooses for you automatically.

To match your local masjid, open Settings → Prayer Calculations. There you can choose another method, switch Asr between Hanafi and Shafi'i, and move any prayer earlier or later by a few minutes.

My reminders are late or don't arrive

Check that Salah Sphere is allowed to send notifications in your phone's settings, and that the reminder is switched on in Settings → Prayer Reminders.

On Android, also allow Alarms & reminders for Salah Sphere so reminders arrive exactly on time. Some phones put apps to sleep to save battery; if reminders still come late, set Salah Sphere's battery use to "Unrestricted".

The Qibla direction looks wrong

Phone compasses are easily confused by metal, magnets and speakers. Hold the phone flat, move away from anything metal, and slowly draw a figure of eight in the air a few times to calibrate it.

Make sure your place is right too: the Qibla is worked out from your location.

Does it work without the internet?

Yes. Prayer times, the Qibla, Guided Prayer, Guided Wudu and du'as all work offline. Qur'an recitation plays from the internet the first time and is then kept on your phone, and the Qur'an meanings are downloaded once in your chosen language.

Is there a subscription?

No, and there never will be. Salah Sphere is free to download, with a single one-time unlock that is yours for good. There are no adverts and no renewals. Why I will never charge a subscription.

Do you collect my data?

No. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, and your settings and location stay on your phone. Read the full privacy policy.

Where do the Qur'an, meanings and du'as come from?

The Arabic text of the Qur'an comes from the Tanzil Project, and the meanings from QuranEnc.com (the Encyclopedia of the Noble Qur'an), shown unchanged. Du'as come from the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and each one shows its source. You can see every source in the app under Settings → Sources.

How do I change the theme?

Open Settings → Theme & display. Choose from six themes, and light, dark or follow your phone.
